Several times after the birth of our son, my husband and I would look at each other, and out of nowhere one of us would say “thank God Meredith was there”, and the other would release a big sigh, slowly nod and say “yeaaaah.” Meredith was a source of calm, and measured strength throughout my pregnancy and delivery. She is confident in what she knows, because her knowledge is backed by both diligent research, and personal hands on experience. I really loved that she was able to give me both a research paper supporting a claim, but also relay anecdotes from her own experience as a doula. I especially loved the prenatal exercises she suggested to help build the muscles necessary for labor and delivery.

Everyone asks me how I was able to push out my 10lb.13 oz. son without any drugs. My answer is my doula Rita Hunt. My birth experience was incredible and I wouldn’t change a thing. I was so glad to have Rita by my side to help me with breathing/relaxation, massaging by back, collaborating with my doctor on best positions to get my baby to turn, and helping my fiancé feel a part of the process. I couldn’t have don’t it without Rita’s support and guidance!

Jen’s knowledge helped me turn the baby from facing sideways to facing downward (which was hard work!). She was great with the nurses, doctor, and my husband. And most importantly - me. She helped me keep my sense of humor, relax when I could, and work when I needed to.

She helped me stay relaxed and I had the most amazing birth I could have ever imagined. She was absolutely instrumental in that. She became part of our family that day - and I will never forget it.

Awed and inspired by the birth of her first child, Cindy was a quick study and, before long was connecting with women in her community to help and support them through their births and offering another set of hands at home with the new babe.  (before being a doula was a “thing”)

Fast forward through broad range of experiences to the current, and you’ll find her with a tool box full of ideas- comforts and techniques, so valuable to any birthing woman/couple.  However, it is really her confident working knowledge of their application, in the moment, that her clients really prize.

In the weeks/months following birth Cindy provides postpartum care.  As mom recuperates and baby becomes attuned with “life on the outside,” Cindy helps during the transition by providing emotional and physical support, educating and pitching in where needed.

Cindy is a strong proponent of education and teaches childbirth classes, including breastfeeding, newborn and selfcare.  She too continues regular professional trainings, keeping her skills and certification up to date.
